Police in Bondo, Siaya County, are pursuing a man accused of killing his wife over alleged infidelity.

The victim, identified as Stella Adongo, was reportedly beaten to death by her husband at their Uhanya beach home.

Police said Stella's body was discovered in their house on Thursday around 7:30 pm.

"We received a report from Usenge sub-location assistant chief, Manas Osuri, that a woman had been killed in Uhanya beach," said county police commander Cleti Kimaiyo.

He said officers from Uhanya police post visited the scene and found the body of the woman.

"Preliminary investigations established that the man, who is a fisherman, had wrangles with his late wife, whom he accused of having an affair with a man from Usenge," Kimaiyo said yesterday.

The police boss said the woman’s body was found with multiple cuts on the head, face, right thigh, and abdomen, "an indication the suspect assaulted her using crude weapons leading to her death".

Kimaiyo said they are pursuing the suspect who has since gone into hiding. He said the woman’s body was moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, a 61-year-old man was found dead in a guest house in Siaya on Tuesday morning.

The body of Nicholas Ogada was discovered by the guest house's attendants around 10:30am when they went to check after he failed to wake up.

Mr Kimaiyo said the caretaker of the guest house, Eveline Atieno, reported the incident to the police before officers moved in and took away the body as they launched investigations into the incident.

Appeared drunk

Ogada is said to have checked in alone on Monday around 8 pm. He appeared drunk, according to the guest house's attendants.

"It was around 10:30 am on Tuesday when the attendants had gone to clean up the room when they discovered the body lying on the bed with some 90 HIV treatment tablets beside him," said Kimaiyo.

The county police boss said the body, which had no visible physical injuries, was moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary pending autopsy as investigations into the matter begin.
