Puzzle of two schools where all students scored D in KCSE

Two schools in Nyanza have protested the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results after all learners scored D.

Students and teachers of Oruba Boys in Migori and Kowidi Secondary School in Homa Bay are reading foul play and claim that the results are erroneous.

On Wednesday, students of Oruba took to the streets to protest the results saying it is not possible for 73 out of 75 students to score D.

They matched to the county education offices to demand answers saying the results were not a true reflection of their capability. 

“We want our results. What we have received is not our results,” said Aloys Otieno, one of the students.

The students claimed they had been posting good results in internal and regional examinations but the KCSE results were a shocker.

“There is no way each of us could get a D. This is impossible,” Otieno said.

Some of the students claimed that they had been chased from home and were searching for their real results.

“We cannot go back home. Some of us have been asked to go and bring our results. We wonder what we can tell our parents who are extremely disappointed in us. All we want is answers,” Eldon Omondi who scored D plain said.

He claimed that he has never scored below C plain in examinations at the school.

They want the Education Cabinet Secretary to review the examination papers.

John Onyango, who scored D plain, said he fears going back home after he was slapped by his parents and told to go and bring his genuine results.

At Kowidi Mixed Secondary School, all the 30 candidates attained E in Mathematics and scored D in KCSE.

The school's principal Paul Okombo claimed that the students were not graded in Physics despite sitting the paper.

Yesterday, Okombo told The Standard that they would lodge a complaint with the Kenya National Examination Council.
