A journalist was charged with defamation in a Webuye court Wednesday.
Isaac Wanjekeche appeared before Resident Magistrate Chrispin Oruo after he was summoned by Webuye Criminal Investigation Officers following a complaint.
He writes for Citizen Weekly, the Western Chronicle and the County Guardian. Wanjekeche is accused of defaming Kennedy Wafula Wanjala alias Mkombozi on June 16 by writing an unlawfully published defamatory matter concerning the said person in the 'Webuye Yetu' Whatsapp group.
The post read: "Mkombozi's character is dominated with feminine traits, the imprests assigned to Mkombozi cannot be accounted for."
He denied the charges and was released on bail. The case will be mentioned Friday and heard on September 5.
