A committee of parliament was Monday informed of a move by CBK and the treasury to retain a 25 million us dollars deposit made by De La Rue, a currency printing company under spotlight for irregular dealings with the government. The committee also questioned the company’s competence to print currency effectively yet it had not acquired the latest technological equipments required for the job. Finance minister Robinson Githae found himself on the receiving end when he was tasked to explain the irregularities in the tendering procedure.
