Millers shut down

Kenya's plant health experts, Kephis, are set to approve importation of genetically modified maize to mitigate a looming shortage. This follows a maize shortage that has threatened to cripple the supply of maize meal. According to the acting head of Kephis Roy Mugiira, new rules on importation will be published next week. Six millers have already stopped production due to a lack of maize.
