Family of 31-year-old lady killed by a stray bullet from the police in Nairobi's CBD cry for justice
The body of 31 Year old Jacqueline Mugure who was felled by a stray bullet from a police officer at OTC in Nairobi last week was Yesterday laid to rest at her rural home in Kulamawe area of Isiolo, amid calls for justice to prevail and bring to book the officer involved in the mysterious shooting incident. According to Ann Njeri, who is aunt to Mugure, the sudden death of the mother of one who was also an orphan has left a very big gap in the family, as the late had assumed responsibilities of taking care of her siblings. Mugure, who was on her normal routine of carrying out outside catering duties as a cook in Nairobi met her untimely death in the most agonizing way on 11th February 2021, being hit by a bullet from people who are supposed to protect life and property. Ann said that autopsy results had revealed that the late Jacqueline had a bullet lodged in her body, calling upon the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other relevant bodies to take up the matter and help the bereaved family of Mugure to access justice by conducting thorough investigations that will reveal the identity of the police officer involved and the motive behind the killing. Mercy Educan, a childhood friend to the late Jacqueline described her as a responsible and loving person, whose absence will leave a huge gap in the lives of the remaining members of the family and the society at large.
