Mombasa's giant iconic tusks are among the sites that have been photographed most in the history of Kenya yet very few people understand the history of these tasks that have withstood a test of time a record 70 years now.

The history and significance of the tusks famously known as Mapembeni date back to 1951 when Queen Elizabeth first visited Kenya.

The tusks were erected on her commemoration.
