Cry for the introduction of Prime Minister position shows Kenya's political immaturity | PERSPECTIVE
COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has restated his earlier statement that President Uhuru Kenyatta will be the next Prime Minister after the end of his 2022 presidential term. Atwoli who was accompanied by Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny and nominated MP-who is also the KNUT SG Wilson Sossion said there was no reverse gear in the constitutional amendment. This comes even as DP Ruto's allied MPs asked politicians to stop politicizing the BBI and handshake. When the BBI taskforce was taking views from Kenyans across the country, the dominant recommendation seem to be the expansion of the Executive to ‘an all-inclusive government’ with a Prime Minister as head of gov’t. Governance expert Javas Bigambo says that Kenya has had a prime minister before (during the Grand Coalition Government where Mwai Kibaki was President while Raila Odinga was Prime Minister) and it will bring no change this time just like before.
