Oliver Mtukudzi dead at 66 years of age
Award winning Zimbabwean music icon Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi is dead.
Mtukudzi died on the afternoon of january 23, 2019 at the avenue clinic in Harare, Zimbabwe at the age of 66.
The most notable music icon out of Zimbabwe has had a career spanning over four decades.
Since his first performance in 1977, Mtukudzi has had 66 albums and was set to release a 67th this year.
Among his most notable songs are Neria (2001), Todii (1999), Mutserendende (2000), and hear me, lord (1995).
Besides his music, Mtukudzi was also a renowned businessman, philanthropist and human rights activist.
Mtukudzi’s music earned him the title of UNICEF goodwill ambassador for southern Africa in 2011.
