Mombasa leaders have complained about using tear gas on NASA demonstrators

They say police used tear gas on peaceful demonstrators who were not causing disturbance

Led by Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Nassir, Mombasa leaders have slammed police for disrupting NASA demonstrations.

Speaking to the media, the leaders lamented on the manner in which police conducted themselves - disrupting peaceful NASA demos in the region.

Also present in the briefing was Mombasa Deputy Governor William Kingi, who insisted that they will not give up on their quest for reforms while condemning police behavior.

Nassir told the police, “There is a law in this country, you cannot just pass the buck. If they think teargas is a better solution, Kenyans have a better solution.”

The Mvita MP also said that there was no form of disobedience from the protesters, capable of prompting the police to use teargas.

He went on to add that the Mega-Rally slated for Sunday, 15th October is still on and that it will be bigger than previous rallies.

Jomvu MP Badi Twalib stated that all their demos have been peaceful and that they will still continue. “Sisi tumekua watu wa Amani na hakuna mtu aliyejitokeza a kusema shughuli zake zimetatizwa na maandamano.”
