Games fees will be a burden for parents

It is unwise to ask parents to bear the burden of financing co-curricular activities considering the hard economic times and the high school fees charged.

The directive by the Ministry of Education calling on parents to finance their young ones' co-curricular activities to the tune of Sh1.4 billion is very unfortunate for some parents who are yet to clear the term's fees arrears.

Is this the same government that introduced free primary education to the extent of cutting examinations charges? The same latitude should be extended to co-curricular activities, which form a crucial part of the curriculum.
