Mombasa Governor
Hassan Joho has scolded residents of Old Town for evading Coronavirus tests
describing it as the highest level of laziness and mediocrity.
A visibly furious
Joho said the government had gone out of its way to roll out mass testing yet
most residents of the area were spreading propaganda over the same.
He also hit out at
Imams who were sneaking in people into mosques, saying their ignorance is a
shame.
“You are opening the mosque, then allowing people to sneak
in. When the police come, you start complaining.
"Where is your mind, what kind of laziness is
this?" he asked.
“If you think you won't be tested, be ready. You will be
tested my friend. Now we are bringing it to your doorsteps and it is free,
there will come a time you will pay for it. So take advantage of this
opportunity and get tested," said Joho.
He further stated that he was not looking for popularity,
warning that if people continue evading tests then he will shut down the town
completely.
“There are places where people are willing to be tested but
they can’t. Others are spending thousands to undergo the tests.
“I have brought it to you but since morning only seven
people have come forward, yet we have lost six lives from this area.
“I know how you people live…shared rooms, bathrooms…jikos.
We will not repeat it! Mtapimwa na kama
hamtapimwa tutawafungia kwa manyumba yenu.

Out of this number, seven are from Kawangware, 10 from
Eastleigh, five from Mombasa and two from Migori.
