SUMMARY

Murang’a Prison administrators declined to have them remanded in that state and officers took them Saba Saba Police Station before transferring them to Saba Saba Health Centre.

They were then taken to Maragua Sub-County Hospital for advanced treatment.

Four suspects who were being transported to Murang’a Prison on Monday drunk chang’aa that was meant to be used in court as exhibit.

The four, who had earlier been arraigned at Kigumo Law Courts, were found unconscious and had to be rushed to hospital.

The alcohol was to be produced as exhibit in a different case but the suspects; David Murigi, Peter Ngugi, George Muiruri and Joseph Murimi, who were in the back of the van, decided to quench their thirst since the officers escorting them were in the driver’s compartment.

Elsewhere, DCI detectives yesterday arrested a 23-year old man namely Daniel Ochieng, after having visited Kabete National Polytechnic and introduced himself as a police officer posted from Central Police division to conduct investigations on crimes within the institution.

In the course of his unlawful conduct, he arrested a student on allegations that he was peddling narcotic drugs. He further intimidated the victim with severe police action and in the process extorted thirty thousand shillings from him.

The victim thereafter made a report to DCI officers who arrested the impostor and upon searching him recovered one roll of bhang, a toy pistol and Sh30,000.

The suspect will be arraigned today.
