Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko
SUMMARY

On Monday the court had allowed Sonko to seek medical attention.

Prior to that, the governor and his co-accused denied multiple charges of corruption before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti at the Milimani Law Courts and were remanded for two more nights pending the ruling on his bail application.

Just days after he was apprehended in Voi, Taita Taveta County, over allegations of graft, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has shown his religious side.

Through a series of posts on social media, Sonko revealed that he draws his strength from the Almighty and he believes that He is on his side.

He went ahead to quote the Bible (Mathew 7:7) and expressed optimism that he will overcome his troubles.

“You have God on your side, who can never leave nor forsake you, so do not feel lonely…Know your God, you will be at peace.

“Remember His word, you will live with power,” he wrote.

The governor further added: Great God in Heaven, You alone determine the future and know that which is not yet, so help these men and women to see that You have a purpose for where they are now, and know that You can use anyone for Your glory and for Your purposes, including them.”

Sonko’s lawyers had applied for bail application, arguing that he was sick and needed medical attention, but the prosecution team opposed the application saying the governor was a flight risk having escaped from jail before.
