Teenage striker Benson Omala scored a last-minute goal for Western Stima as they dispatch Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) 1-0 in an entertaining the Kenyan Premier League match staged at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, yesterday.

The 17-year-old Kisumu Day student scored his first senior goal in his third match for the power men in the 92nd minute.

The win saw Stima move joint seventh in the standings with Posta Rangers, Kakamega Homeboyz and Sofapaka on 17 points.

Speaking after the match, Stima head coach Salim Babu lauded his charges for not giving up and urged his young striker Omala to continue training hard.

“The match was fair from the start even though we started on the low, especially during the opening half. However, we played very well after the break and I am glad we did not give up till the last minute to secure the three points,” he said.

“Omala is a young striker with a bright future and he showed why we signed him. He is a dangerous player under development and I strongly believe he will prosper at the club if he continues working hard.”

The match started on a low as both teams exchanged a series of passes in the opening five minutes but it was the hosts who threatened first.
