SUMMARY

Mariga conceded defeat after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) figures showed that his rival Imran Bernard Okoth leading.

In a video that has since gone viral, the Jubilee Party candidate called Mr Okoth and congratulated him for his victory.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has come out and issued advice to McDonald Mariga after he lost in the November 7 Kibra by election.

According to the MP, the Jubilee Party Kibra by election candidate showed interest in serving the people of Nairobi County by vying for the post.

The legislator thus called upon Mariga to partner with elected leaders so as to promote youth with talent in football across the constituencies.


“Honestly speaking, Mariga 17 in person is a nice guy. Since he has shown interest in serving the Nairobians, I can only advise him to come out & partner with elected leaders to promote local football talent across all the constituencies. Lazima tushike vijana wetu wale talented mkono. Sindio? Said Babu Owino.

"Ni Mariga, nimepiga nikuambie congratulations. Kura imekua poa hatujapigana, meeting tulikuwa pamoja na pia niko ready for lunch… (It’s Mariga, I called to congratulate you on your victory. The elections went well and I am also ready for lunch)," said Mariga during the phone call.

Mariga said that he was also ready to offer the newly elected Kibra MP support in running the constituency.

"After the election, we should go back to our past life and strengthen our friendship. I will offer you maximum support," Mariga said.
