Swaleh Mdoe blasts ‘senior’ media gurus

Renowned Swahili news anchor Swaleh Mdoe on Thursday hit out at his colleagues who adopt fancy names.

Through a tweet, Mdoe noted that Kenyans are obsessed with ‘big’ titles and went ahead list a couple.

He further suggested that there should be no seniority in newsrooms since most of them do the same thing.

“Kenyans are obsessed with BIG titles. Dr, Prof, Eng so-and-so.Senior Editor, Senior Anchor.

“What seniority is there when we are editing same copy or reading news? Just asking SENIOR media gurus. Labish,” he wrote.

The anchor did not mention any names but it seems he was pointing an accusing finger at some of his colleagues.

In 2018, the anchor was heavily criticized after announcing that he was willing to sell his kidney to sort out ‘pressing’ financial issues.

He even shared his mobile number and emphasized on the urgency of the matter.

Swaleh also said that he did not want to bother people and could live on one kidney.
