Elsewhere, Police Constable Samson Morongo is in custody in connection with the murder of his colleague, Constable Stephen Mkangi

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Tuesday urged members of the public to be cautious whenever officers introduce themselves as DCI detectives.
This is after Constable Samuel Mutachi, an officer based at Central Police station, was on Monday arrested for demanding a Sh200,000 bribe and receiving Sh35,000 from an advocate after purporting to be a DCI officer.
The DCI asked members of the public to insist on being shown the Certificate of Appointment (COA) whenever anyone purports to be a DCI officer.
“The DCI still urges members of the public to ALWAYS insist on being shown the Certificate of Appointment (C.o.A) whenever ANYONE purports to be a #DCI officer & if still in doubt, to ask for the Telephone number of their immediate boss to call and confirm the IDENTITY,” read a statement by the DCI.
Elsewhere, Police Constable Samson Morongo is in custody in connection with the murder of his colleague, Constable Stephen Mkangi, whom he shot dead and later said he was killed by a group of unknown people.
Forensic investigations by the DCI have ruled out that theory and proved that it was homicide.
The said incident took place on July 27, 2019, at Wilson Airport where the two GSU officers were carrying out guard duties.
After killing his colleague, Morongo went ahead to make a report that they had been attacked by unknown people who killed his colleague and took their firearms.
Upon carrying out Forensic Analysis, DCI Detectives were able to connect the officer to the murder.
The suspect’s clothes were subjected to Gunshot Residue Test at the Government Chemist and tested positive hence placing the suspect in very close proximity to the shooting scene.
