Former Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale must be wishing he never predicted the outcome of the Africa Cup of Nations final – well, at least he must be wishing he never predicted it online!
On Tuesday, July 16, Khalwale took to his Twitter to express his expectations on the much-anticipated Friday final, claiming the 'Lions of Teranga' (Senegal) were clear favourites to lift the iconic golden trophy.
"Senegal start clear favorites in tomorrow's final of the AFCON 2019 Finals in Cairo. A game that will bring to the surface the ingenuity of Sadio Mane against the dead ball magic of Riyad Mahrez of Algeria. The beautiful mosaic of Black & Arabic Africa..." the ex-Senator posted.
This tweet seemed to have sparked a wave of mockery among netizens, who quickly identified the mistake – the final not being on Wednesday as Khalwale projected.
The final match is scheduled for Friday, July 19 at the Cairo International Stadium. It kicks off at exactly 10:00pm East Africa time.
