Three women among suspects nabbed over city robbery incident

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested six notorious criminals among them three at the weekend at house in Kitengela following a robbery incident in Nairobi’s Kilimani.

During the swoop, detectives managed to recover two vehicles, a Toyota Prado and Nissan Navara, master keys, fake number plates, masking tapes and a safe.

Those arrested included Stephen Ngiru Kuria, Wilson Mutua Kitheka, Vincent Odhiambo, Elizabeth Akinyi Abuto, Lavender Akinyi Ogilo, Quinter Adhiambo Ongi’no.

Most of the suspects have pending court cases after numerous burglary, house breaking and stealing incidents mostly in Kilimani, Kileleshwa and Upper Hill areas in Nairobi.

DCI boss George Kinoti described the suspects as notorious adding that investigations are underway to net more suspects.

“We managed to arrest six notorious suspects linked to a robbery incident in Kitengela,” said Directorate of Criminal Investigations on its official twitter handle.

The two Akinyis- Elizabeth and Lavender have warrants of arrest for absconding court and umping bail respectively.

The six will be arraigned in court after investigations to face charges.

“Two of the suspects Elizabeth and Lavender had warrants of arrest for absconding Court and jumping bail respectively,” said Kinoti.

According to court records, Lavender has more than 12 case files at various police stations in Nairobi which will be presented before court in due course.

She was charged alongside three Tanzanian nationals; Shimton Ambasa Khan, sisters Teresa Richard and Rose Richard who were in Kenya illegally.

Lavender was released on a cash bail of Sh1.2 million with an alternative bond of Sh2.1 million to cover for all the counts.

Police investigations have revealed that some of the stolen property is sold to unsuspecting buyers in the country and neighbouring Tanzania.
