Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has been on the frontline offsetting the burdens of the common Mwananchi. From helping the victims of hunger in Baringo county to the distribution of relief food in West Pokot, definitely, Governor Sonko stands out among many political leaders in matters of charity.

On Sunday 7 April, he ordered all patients held at his County health facilities over unpaid bills worth over Sh1 million, be released.

While addressing the crowd that had turned up for the Good Deeds celebrations at City Hall, the Governor ordered his Health Executive Mohammed Dagane to engage with the finance counterpart Winfred Kathagu in devising ways of settling the bills and ensure patients are released.

“As a good gesture, I’m directing my CECs of Health and Finance to devise ways of covering the costs of patients held at our medical facilities due to lack of fees. I’m therefore ordering the immediate and unconditional discharge of the patients at Mbagathi and at Mama Lucy Hospitals,” said the Governor.

The County Chief also noted that 30 patients from Mbagathi hospital were freed while 20 others at Mama Lucy Hospital were discharged. Owing to his previous acts of compassion, is Governor Sonko the true definition of the Ambassador of Good Deeds?
