Ruto attributed the two victories to God, adding that ‘the hustler nation’ had spoken
Elsewhere, lawyer Miguna Miguna also congratulated residents of Ugenya for electing Ochieng, describing him as a ‘fearless freedom fighter'
Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday morning congratulated David Ochieng of Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) Party and Wiper’s Julius Mawathe for emerging victorious in the Ugenya and Embakasi South parliamentary by-elections respectively.
Ochieng beat Christopher Karan of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) by 18,730 votes to 14,507 votes while Mawathe garnered 21,628 compared to Irshad Sumra’s 7,988.
Ruto attributed the two victories to God, adding that ‘the hustler nation’ had spoken.
“CONGRATULATIONS Ochieng (Ugenya) & Mawathe (Embakasi) for your God given victory. Jameni wacheni MUNGU aitwe MUNGU.
“The hustler nation has spoken; the people have decided. GLORY TO THE ALMIGHTY GOD,” wrote the DP.
Elsewhere, lawyer Miguna Miguna also congratulated residents of Ugenya for electing Ochieng, describing him as a ‘fearless freedom fighter.’

He termed the two defeats as a warning signal to ODM that change was already taking place.
“The compromised Kenyan media have disseminated propaganda that Luos, specifically, and Nairobi voters, generally, cannot defy @RailaOdinga no matter how egregious his betrayals are.
“Ugenya and Embakasi East are just the beginning of the approaching revolutionary earthquakes. Viva,” he wrote.

NASA leader Raila Odinga vouched for Karan and Sumra in the by-elections and the two losses are a setback to ODM party that seems to be losing popularity in areas that it initially considered as strongholds.
