Some had even accused their house helps of theft because they could not fathom how an outsider could gain access to their carefully-tucked belongings

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday revealed that the notorious burglar in Kilimani nicknamed ‘Spiderman’ had been arrested.

The man was identified as Michael Joseph Otieno and was nabbed at Greenhouse Building in the upmarket neighbourhood.

According to the DCI, Otieno was found with several laptops, pliers, a cutter, hacksaw and a ransack bag.

In February, the burglar had been filmed scaling walls in Kilimani apartments and stealing electronics, money and jewellery.

He had perfected the art of gaining access to apartments by scaling walls before using stair rails to move from floor to floor.

His victims often wondered how they lost their valuables considering the apartments have full-time CCTV coverage and one resident told a local TV station that she left her laptop in the living room only to find it missing in the morning.

Some had even accused their house helps of theft because they could not fathom how an outsider could gain access to their carefully-tucked belongings.
