Wayne Rooney scored yet another pearler for DC United on Wednesday night - and it had fans of one of his former clubs calling for a dramatic return.

Manchester United supporters said the passion that Rooney is showing for the MLS side is exactly what's been missing at Old Trafford this season.

And many of them love to see the 32-year-old back in a Red Devils shirt in the off-season.

They took to Twitter after Rooney - who only joined DC in June - hit his 10th goal of the season.

The former Everton forward curled a free-kick into the top corner from all of 35 yards to give his side a 1-0 lead over Toronto in the 18th minute.

It proved to be the deciding goal.

He's been widely praised by fans, teammates and fellow stars, including LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the impact he's made Stateside.

The team were struggling at the wrong end of the table when he joined, but they're now in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, thanks largely to Rooney's influence.

It's left many fans in England wondering if he left the Premier League too soon.
