Cliff Ombeta reveals details of Obado, Sharon’s love affair

Migori Governor Okoth Obado had an affair with slain university student Sharon Otieno, Standard Digital can confirm.

Speaking exclusively to KTN News on Wednesday, Obado’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta revealed that Governor Obado and Sharon knew each other and their relationship was in the public domain.

“They are people who knew each other…the relationship is something that was public knowledge, it was not something being hidden,” said Ombeta.

Ombeta hit out at the media and politicians for playing judge and jury hence pushing for Obado’s prosecution.

“The way it is being played out to show that it was something hidden or secretive is not true. It is something even people in the county knew about,” he pointed out.

On whether Governor Obado’s DNA samples were taken to assist in the investigations, his lawyer Ombeta could not confirm saying that the concerned agencies were handling the matter.

He reiterated that people trying to push for Obado’s apprehension were not considerate and were judging him unfairly.

“This is mob lynching and the people asking for the Governor to be arrested are not police officers or involved in any part of the investigation. They know nothing about the case,” he lamented.

He further warned investigative agencies not to be influenced by the public but follow due procedure to unearth the truth.

“If investigative teams were to ever follow such kind of public pressure, then they are not in the right office because they must be independent,” said Ombeta.

Chief Government pathologist Johansen Oduor said on Friday a post-mortem revealed that Sharon Otieno was stabbed eight times, strangled and raped.

“She was stabbed three times on the neck, four times on the back and once on the left side of the stomach.”

The report showed that Sharon died of excessive bleeding.
