News anchor Anjlee Gadhvi opens up on painful cancer treatment

K24 news anchor Anjlee Gadhvi over the weekend opened up on her radiotherapy sessions in hospital saying it has not been easy.

Through an Instagram post, Gadhvi divulged that she is often strapped in a single position with her arms stretched above her head and this caused her body sores.

“This has been my spot for the last 7 weeks. 30 sessions, of 45 minutes each have been some tough life exams. Being strapped in a single position with my arms stretched above my head has made this body sore,” she wrote.

The anchor further added that this had led to an inflamed throat and swallowing food was a struggle.

She urged her followers to appreciate good health saying: “I would cringe in agony and suffocation when the air got stuck in my chest and I just couldn't burp... Least to say, my energy was being sapped.”

Gadhvi, who was formerly at KTN, however, expressed optimism saying she was glad that part of the treatment was over, maintaining that she would not let this phase of her life interfere with her happiness.

“Finally this part of treatment is over..... Yes, despite the drama, I still decided to go to work for a few days of the week and look fabulous!!

“There was no way in hell would I let any of this take away my smile, and gratitude for life and my passion for journalism.

“Had I not had the opportunity to learn certain life skills nor had an amazing and powerful spiritual teacher #GMCKS and Gods grace, I don't think I would be here,” she said.

Gadhvi was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2013 but went public about it in 2015 after various treatments options had drained funds raised by family and friends

She eventually appealed for public help and received a donation of over Sh6 million from Kenyans in hours.
