David de Gea is ready to put pen to paper on a huge £350,000-a-week contract - and it is all thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Spain star de Gea is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of next season - with Real Madrid's long term interest a constant worry for United.
Real have been chasing de Gea for a number of years, and almost completed a swoop in 2016 - with the transfer collapsing at the eleventh hour after a £29million deal had been agree.
But according to The Sun the keeper is ready to sign a fresh five-year deal to make him the second highest earner at United - with Alexis Sanchez's mammoth £500,000-a-week overshadowing the rest of the squad.
De Gea's offer is largely down to Jose Mourinho moving Ibrahimovic off his books.
The Swede was on £350,000-a-week in his debut season at United before taking a £225,000 pay cut when he re-signed for a second season.
But Ibrahimovic departed to join MLS side LA Galaxy for free in March to free up a chunk of the wage budget and allow United to reward de Gea.
De Gea, who joined from Atletico Madrid, has had a phenomenal campaign with the Red Devils - chalking up 17 clean sheets to help his side climb towards a second placed finish in the Premier League.
He is also favourite to claim United's Player of the Season award for the fourth time in seven years at the club.
