Venessa is ‘master hacker’: Vetlab’s Wangari best lady at Muthaiga, while junior prize goes to Njugu

Handicap 18 rolls in 10 level pars to shake off 122 golfers in Nyali, as Gathu wins Kenya power title at Muthaiga.

Perris Venessa made the most of home advantage by posting an excellent 42 stableford points to emerge the overall winner of the 2018 Annual Hackers United Golf.

Buoyed by home fans at the par 71 Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa on Saturday, Venessa rolled in 10 level pars.

Despite playing a mixed pot of bogey shots in the rest of both nine, the handicap 18 lady marched to victory ahead of 122 golfers in the day-long 18 holes stable ford event.

"This is my first win this year and I’m really happy and hope to improve my play in the coming events," said Venessa.

Her club mate Rajesh Khagram, playing off handicap 27, was the runners up on 40 points while handicap 9 Dinesh Sasan finished third with 37 points.  

At the par 71 Muthaiga course in Nairobi, a Kenya Airforce club golfer George Gathu, playing off handicap 16, beat a team of 169 golfers by carding 36 points to emerge the overall winner of the 2018 Kenya Power Corporate golf tournament played on Saturday.

Thika Sport club’s Peter Karare, playing off handicap 20, was the men's winner on 34 points.

The lady prize was won by Vet Lab’s handicap 10 C N Wangari on 33 points, while Ruiru’s Mary Muthoni was the runners up on 33 points.

Engineer Sammy Gathuri from Limuru Club, playing off handicap 10, posted 34 points to win the men's guest prize and the same for the lady was won by Muthaiga’s handicap 20 Olive Njagi on 35 points.

Ruiru’s handicap 17 Anthony Mwangi, on 20 points, and Machakos handicap 24 Susan Ndolo, on 32 points, were the men and lady staff winners respectively.

Emmanuel Njugu from Muthaiga, playing off handicap 05, won the Junior prize on 34 points. Taking the best effort prize on 12 points was Sigona’s handicap 27 C Kerubo.
