Sonko hints at resigning, says the job has become too hard

Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has left Kenyans puzzled after hinting that he might resign citing that the job has become really hard.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday 28 March, Sonko said that he will seek advice from Kenyans as he contemplated leaving the job.

“Lakini pia mujue hii kazi imekua ngumu iko karibu kunishinda na sio mambo ya flag hizo nimekubali kutoa as adviced by Karanja Kibicho na Ndegwa but nitawambia very soon ni kwanini ndio muniadvice iskue kama yule my bro aliehepa bila kuconsult.Kuweni na siku njema yenye mafanikio na baraka tele na Mungu awalinde nyote,” he posted.

“But you should know that this job has become really hard. It’s not about removing the flag as adviced by Karanja Kibicho and Ndegwa. However, I will let you all know soon why so that you can advise me on the way forward. Not like my brother who left without consulting (Polycarp Igathe)”

In the post, the governor started by thanking Nairobi taxpayers for delivering a revenue of Sh 100,000,000 per day which has translated to Sh 1,247,762,543.00 as of today.

The former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe resigned barely six months after assuming office.

“I write to resign my seat as the elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1pm, Wednesday, 31st January 2018. Serving Kenyans, in Nairobi under your leadership, has been a high honour and distinct privilege. I am grateful to Nairobians and yourself for giving me the opportunity to serve. Thank you and please accept my highest personal regards,” wrote Igathe in a letter addressed to the Nairobi Governor.
