Could Kevin De Bruyne have accidentally leaked Manchester City's new signing?
The club has been linked to several good players this January and De Bruyne spoke to the media about the club's progress
Manchester City and Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne may have accidentally spilled the beans on who Pep Guardiola is going to sign in January.
Speaking after the Carabao Cup Semi-Final win over minnows Bristol City, De Bruyne’s choice of words when asked about prospective signings this month raised a few eyebrows.
According to The Independent, De Bruyne appeared to hint that Chilean Alexis Sanchez was close to joining the Citizens at the Etihad this January.
“A very good player. Obviously, we will see what happens in this transfer period. We don't have to take care about that, anyway. If a good player comes to us that is better. If he doesn't come, we do it with the team we have. We are on a good period already, the whole season. Everybody is doing a good job. When he comes, he will add something to the team,” said De Bruyne.
Reports also claim Guardiola is a huge admirer of Sanchez and could try to seal the much-awaited deal in the coming days.
Sanchez has also been strongly linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, who are said to be willing to offload Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the Gunners.
The 29-year-old has scored 7 goals in the Premier League this season.
