Hilarious reactions after President Mugabe 'skips' the most important bit of his resignation speech

93-year-old Embattled Zimbabwe's President Robert on the evening of November 19 shocked people from across the world when he defied calls to resign.

His resignation, which was highly anticipated by the entire world came after the ruling party Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) expelled him from being its leader.

ZANU also fired Mugabe’s wife Grace, Education Minister Jonathan Moyo and Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere. The move was celebrated by many members of the public as they looked forward to Mugabe’s resignation.

Mugabe’s tribulations begun when he fired his Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and placed his 52-year old wife Grace as his successor.

In his widely viewed speech, Mugabe defied the calls to resign and said he intends to preside over Zanu-PF's congress.

His announcement made him a trending topic on Twitter for a better part of Monday morning.

Most tweeps found humour in his statement and many memes were formed in his name.
