Politician blocked Uhuru, Raila pre-poll meeting meant to bring them together

So who scuttled a meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga in the eleventh hour days to the just concluded repeat presidential election? Well, it has emerged that a Catholic priest – respected by the rival political divides – almost succeeded in bringing Uhuru and Raila together.

Grapevine has learnt that the two leaders had agreed to meet at a Karen home in an attempt to resolve the political stalemate in the run up to the fresh poll.

But a senior politician just said no to the meet at the last minute, throwing the priest’s efforts into disarray.

The man of cloth is said to be still pushing for the two leaders to meet in seeking way forward for the country that has been split by the political contest between the top leaders.
