Nairobi billionaire businessman Jimi Wanjigi has been trending since officers raided his home on Monday the 16th morning.

The officers armed with sledgehammers, cutters and other tools dismantled doors to gain entry into Mr.Wanjigis palatial Muthaiga home in an attempt to seize weapons.The raid on the well-appointed Muthaiga address happened after police raided another house in Malindi and recovered five guns and 93 bullets. They also searched another house in Nyali, Mombasa. They linked both houses to Mr Wanjigi.

Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe said the raid on Wanjigi's homes was in the interest of national security.

Police also searched Mr Wanjigi’s Kwacha House offices on General Mathege Drive, Westlands, Nairobi Caramel, the high end club at ABC Place, also Westlands.

30 hours since the raid begun, lots of weapons have been recovered making his name a topic that Kenyans won’t stop talking about. What most of them do not know is that;

  • The 1962 born Wanjigi has lived a very quiet and mysterious life.
  • Kenyans started hearing of him only after businessman Jacob Juma was shot dead, in 2016.
  • In 2013, he supported Jubilee coalition led by president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
  • Mr Wanjigi has been a key financier and strategist National Super Alliance (NASA) which he joined in 2017.
  • He is known as James Bond by his friends and foes and has a carefully guarded and almost non-existent public profile.
  • His father, Maina Wanjigi was a senior civil servant with impressive credentials.
  • Mr Wanjigi is one of the richest people in the country.
