OPINION: Raila's Backstage Grand Strategy to executing power

NASA leader Raila Odinga is working on strategies that will eventually get him into power. The four major avenues he is working on are;

1. Get Diplomatic Community To Rally Him

Raila is building a case from International Community that Kenya cannot uphold the rule of law and cannot offer free and fair elections. He is scheduled to meet current British Minister, former British ministers and other leading figures. He is proposing election reforms to be done first to allow free and fair election, this in his opinion is the only way to avoid Irregularity and Illegalities as on Nullified August 8 election.

2. Go To Court To Stop Oct 26 Election

Raila Odinga will anytime go to Court to stop election from taking place on Oct 26. He will be citing violation of Article 140(3) triggered by the invalidation of the election of the declared President, thus provisions of Article 138(1) (b) would become applicable on fresh nominations. On correction issued on 6 May 2013, the Supreme court clarified that the relevant article 138 (8) (b) deals with cancellation of a presidential election.

3. Go To Court To Nullify Election If It Happens On Oct 26 Election

Raila is preparing the ground to make sure Oct 26 Elections doesn’t happen in all constituencies. It is the reason demonstration are being pushed every day from Monday to Friday.

Raila intends to use violation of Article 138 (2) of the Constitution guiding the procedure of presidential elections. It states “if two or more candidates are nominated, an election shall be held in each constituency.” This means that an election shall be considered null and void if a constituency or some constituencies do not participate.

Raila has massive following in Nyanza, Western, Coast and Lower Eastern including Turkana, Samburu and parts of Masaailand.

4. Push Dialogue On Coalition Government

Raila has hinted that he is ready to hold dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the the way forward. A day after withdrawing from the October 26 election, he spoke on Radio Jambo .

He is pushing for option I and 2 above with Option 3 starting 26th Oct.

Raila is aware that the country could be headed to a constitutional crisis if October 26 election is unsuccessful . Coupled with deteriorating the economy, uncertainty, fear caused by standstill and demonstration, Raila is pressuring diplomatic community and planning to create painful court process that could make dialogue attractive to President Uhuru. He will deepen political crisis to push for dialogue on coalition Government.
