Revelation of Cabinet Secrtary likely to cause voter apathy in Mount Kenya.

Mount Kenya region is likely to witness a historic low voter turnout in the next General Election if claims by those who lost in the Jubilee Party primaries last month are anything to go by.

A section of legislators from the Mount Kenya region have allegedly reported the Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri to President Kenyatta over his alleged involvement in plotting their defeat during the recently concluded party primaries.

Over the 40 lawmakers in a meeting with the Jubilee Party leader accused the CS of having worked closely with the party elections board making them lose in the April nominations.

According to the MPs, the CS had a hand in the primaries for Laikipia, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Embu counties.

The meeting lasted for close to an hour as the president had been scheduled to meet delegates from KANU, Narc Kenya and Maendeleo Mashinani parties that are supporting his re-election bid.

The complainants revealing the details of the meeting declined to be named but with the wave of change portrayed by the electorate in the region, it is clear who the 40 disgruntled could be.

They alerted the President that the CS was carrying out campaigns against their political ambitions and would potentially lead to voter apathy the region known to be an all-time party’s stronghold.

The get-together was a week ago hours before the Jubilee Party unveiled President Kenyatta as their flagbearer during the August 8, polls.
