Jubilee party leadership has approved the appointment of lawyer Protus Wanyonyi as the chairman of the party's National Elections Board.
The party's campaign secretariat head Raphael Tuju on Friday announced, the appointment saying that both President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto had endorsed Mr. Wanyonyi's appointment. "Both the party leader and his deputy were present and endorsed the appointment and it is in accordance with the party constitution to have the board's chair having qualifications of a high court judge, " he said.Acceptance of nominations for aspirants has also been extended by the party a move the leadership says seeks to allow more defectors into the party as they are expecting to welcome more members.Recently, 18 opposition legislators quitted the opposition and joined the ruling party, among them, were three members of the national assembly and 15 MCAs. Tuju at the press conference said there entire electoral board will be unveiled next week further to which elections boards for counties will be formulated to help run its primaries.
