She had decided to give a try into beauty contests when her elder sister working as a tours and travels company manager in Kakamega told her she was beautiful and had all it would take for one to be a star in the industry.
She admits that at her first debut into beauty pageantry as a participant was a joke and for fun but having emerged first runners-up Miss Tourism Kakamega County opened up her eyes.
"My elder sister encouraged me into the content and I decided to take it up during the long holiday last year though as a joke but the outcome became an eye opener, " says Sharleen.
She is in her second year at Maseno University studying International Relations and has since set her eyes on the Miss Maseno University an announcement that has caused a spur on the students' social media platforms.
The announcement came after having undergone a training and learning during the first-ever Mr and Miss Albinism Kenya contest in October last year which she says greatly helped improve on her walk, confidence, and attitude.
"Am hopeful that this year will be a great one for me and by the grace of God, I will participate in most of the pageants coming my way and also work so hard on my academics. Wouldn't want to fail," she says.
Sherleen gives credit to her trainer Mike Lucian who she remembers for having kept her motivated by his words "Sherleen you are getting it right, keep working on it," and says the trainer is the best ever.
She admits that the idea to of modeling could not sink deep in her parents but they are now proud of her efforts and support her much more than before.
Miss Environment Kenya, Kisumu County Nivea Debra is her all time friend in modeling and says their friendship had grown as a result of her charisma and passion for the industry.
Sharleen says she has had the best of her life while at home and even in school as she had learned to overcome fears and trials ever since she was a young girl.
" I can not even remember any low moments in life actually, even as a little girl I learned to surpass my fears and trials and I am known to be a very playful person," she adds.
She says the Albinism Society of Kenya had been of great help in her personal development including offering bursaries that help pay part of her school fees.
