Ten man DR Congo slams Morocco to group stage lead

Morocco begun their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations build-up with great momentum facing DR Congo who finished third in the previous AFCON edition.

Nearly getting an early lead, Morocco and Napoli forward.

El Kaddouri fired crashing the ball into the crossbar in the second minute but succumbed to a 1-0 defeat.

Midfielder Junior Kabananga was the man with the only goal of the day three group C encounters helping the Ibenge's team take the lead as they await a clash with defending champions Cote De'Ivoire and Togo who had ended up in a tie in the second place in the group after a goalless draw.

DR Congo ended the match, one man down after substitute Lomalisa Mutambala was sent off the pitch at 82 minutes after he was booked twice in succession after coming on for N'Sakala.

Morocco manager Renard's tactful changes to the squad each coming after Ibenge's substitutions to protect and potentially extend the lead could not take the ten man DR Congo off the lead.

Morocco who will face Ivory Coast in their next match and have a chance to secure a place in the quarter-finals if they deny the defending contenders their first win in the edition.
