New rules should not affect traffic flow

The National Transport and Safety Authority has come up with new rules that are not only aimed at taming motorists and passengers but also increasing Government revenue.

While this is a welcome move going by the current rate of accidents in our country, it is important for the agency to employ officers of high integrity if the regulations are to have a positive impact.

Right now, it is questionable if the agency has the capacity to handle the various issues going by its current resources.

In addition, the new rules should not interfere with traffic flow as has been seen in the past.
