Kisii resident attacked for destroying a footbridge

A resident in Bosongo village is recovering from injuries sustained after he was thoroughly beaten by the public. Sources reveal that the man, 58, received a beating from charged residents after he was accused of destroying a footer bridge that was erected on his land. The foot bridge was joining two villages, Bosongo and Nyaura, and would ease transport between the two villages.

The estranged man was annoyed that the bridge was erected against his wishes and claimed that he had not been consulted.

“I can’t allow anybody to erect a footbridge on my piece of land, this is lack of respect” he said.

This prompted him to take matters into his own hands and destroy the footbridge. Residents did not heed to his pleas as they reined blows on him. He had to scamper for his life only to be seen a week later.

The area MCA Mr. Wilfred Monyenye Yoge was disappointed by the incidence and vowed to sue the culprit.

“This is not acceptable and I will follow up the issue to ensure that such citizens face the full force of the law” he said.

He decried that some residents are derailing him despite his tireless efforts to empower them.

Residents vowed to reconstruct the footbridge in order to allow normal activities in the area.

They stresses on the impotance of the foot bridge especially during the rainy season when Nyakomisaro stream floods thereby endangering residents’ lives and students who cross the stream.
