On Thursday morning, the tourism CS Najib Balala announced the reduction of park entry fee to all the game parks and reserves owned by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

This means that Kenyans who wish to access the parks and reserves will pay Sh150 entry fees instead of Sh300.

CS Balala says the reduction came due to the adverse effects of COVID-19 in the tourism and wildlife sector.

The tourism CS noted that the new charges would apply to all tourists, that is, local, residents, and international.

In addition, both local and international filmmakers who want to use the parks to produce their films can now do so at a 50 percent discount on the filming fees.

“This is to encourage all filmmakers to profile Kenya as a magical destination,” said the tourism CS.

CS Balala added that they had given a one-year moratorium to all lodge owners in Kenya Wildlife Parks.

The reduction of the park entry fee is expected to last till June 2021.
