Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday distributed food to 600 families in Nachu ward, Kikuyu constituency.

In his message, the DP, who was in the company of area MP Kimani Ichungwa, said he is committed to ensuring vulnerable Kenyans are supported during this period.

“Today, 600 families in Nachu Ward were part of the wider 3,600 households that benefitted from our food distribution; to shield Kenyans from adverse effects of the outbreak.

“We are committed to ensuring that vulnerable Kenyans are supported during this tough period of the COVID-19 crisis besides coming up with broad plans that will facilitate the country’s rapid recovery from the disease,” he said.

Further DP Ruto said the government was investing in various infrastructural projects such as the construction of the Marengeta Dam, which is part of dams that will benefit more than 120,000 households countrywide.

Ever since the removal of Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen, DP Ruto has maintained a low-profile, steering clear of politics.

Leaders allied to him have accused President Kenyatta of fighting him indirectly by going after his foot soldiers and recently, Prof Makau Mutua asked the DP to jump to the defense of his people.

Elsewhere, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Wednesday asked the President to come clean and lay bare his differences with the Deputy President.

The two have not been seen together in recent weeks and the ‘bromance’ that was the highlight of their first term has quickly faded.

A section of lawmakers from Central Kenya have however vowed to stick with the DP to the end despite plans to force him out of Jubilee.
