4 more Kenyans succumb to COVID-19 bringing number of deaths to 40

Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman on Wednesday announced that four more Kenyans had succumbed to Coronavirus, bringing the number of deaths in the country to 40.

Three of the patients were in Nairobi while one was in Mombasa.

This comes as the country announced 22 new positive cases, meaning the number of recorded cases now stands at 737.

Out of the 22 new cases, 21 are Kenyans and one is a Ugandan.

The youngest is 20 years while the oldest is 81 years.

17 are male and five are female.

In terms of distribution per county: Nairobi 10Mombasa 8 Kajiado 3Bomet 1

So far, twenty counties have been affected.

Dr Aman also stated that some samples from truck drivers at the Namanga border on the Tanzania side were tested and 25 were positive.

Out of the 25, 23 are from Tanzania while Rwanda and Uganda have one each.

On a more positive note, 22 more patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus.

This brings the number of recoveries in the country to 281.
