Four civilians who were caught impersonating police officers in Changamwe, Mombasa County have been arrested.

According to Changamwe Police Commander, Ali Ndiema, while speaking to Citizen digital, the four allegedly arrested residents found without masks and violating curfew rules.

After making the arrest, the four would then force them into the vehicle and steal from them.

The Changamwe police boss says the suspects have been putting on full police uniform and showing off pistols as they pretended to enforce curfew rules.

The suspects are currently held at the Changamwe police station as they continue with investigations to retrieve the uniforms and pistols in their possession.

On Tuesday, May 5, while addressing the nation on COVID-19 status in the country, health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced Mombasa town as an area of concern with 39 confirmed cases in the county alone.

During his briefing the CS announced 45 new cases bringing the total to 535 and the highest number of new cases recorded in the country.
