Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi on Wednesday suggested that the government should also re-open churches and mosques after giving a number of eateries the go-ahead to resume operations.

Itumbi said it was harder to put on masks in restaurants as compared to places of worship.

“Churches and mosques should be re-opened. We have already allowed markets& restaurants with a BAR component.

“In a restaurant & bar the masking requirement is HARDER to maintain because of eating & drinking,” he opined.

Adding: “In church and mosques it is far much easier to observe ALL rules! My View.”

Earlier this week, the government gave some eateries and restaurants the go-ahead to resume operations but only after they had complied with a set of measures.

The restaurants were instructed to ensure social distancing and screening of customers at entry points.

All employees were also instructed to take a COVID-19 test to ensure they do not pass the virus to customers.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko also opined on the matter saying the country needs prayers to fight Coronavirus and hit out at those who were playing politics with lives of Kenyans.

“Kenya is a God-fearing Country, it needs prayers especially during this difficult time when we are fighting the deadly Covid-19 pandemic while others are playing politics with the lives of Kenyans.

“Since all the throat sanitizing dens, hotels and restaurants have been allowed to operate starting from tomorrow, churches and Mosques should also be reopened so we may continue to pray for God's guidance and Allah's protection against the coronavirus pandemic until it’s defeated in the mighty name of Jesus,” he wrote.
