Prof Makau Mutua on Friday opined that only science would solve the Coronavirus puzzle, giving an example of Italy.

Mutua said the number of deaths in the European country in the past 24 hours (919) is enough proof that it takes more than prayer to combat the pandemic that has claimed over 28,000 lives so far.

“Those who think PRAYER can STOP coronavirus should watch ITALY, the seat of the VATICAN.

“Today’s coronavirus death toll in ITALY is 919, the HIGHEST EVER. Let’s return to SCIENCE,” he said.

Researchers around the world are working to find a vaccine but the process is proving to be somewhat complicated.

According to WHO, vaccines against pneumonia, such as pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine, do not provide protection against COVID-19.

The virus is so new and different that it needs its own vaccine. Researchers are trying to develop a vaccine against 2019-nCoV, and WHO is supporting their efforts.

Although these vaccines are not effective against 2019-nCoV, vaccination against respiratory illnesses is highly recommended to protect your health.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta led the country during the National Prayer Day at State House and asked Kenyans to continue praying.

During his speech, the Head of State said he was sure that the Almighty would hear the cry of his people especially at this time as the world struggles to contain the Coronavirus.

He also emphasized the importance of prayer saying although some opine that the nation should turn to science, trusting God would go a long way.

“It is good to pray together as a nation…a nation prospers when a nation believes and trusts in God.

“There are those who say we should depend on science but even science needs God,” he remarked
