Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju has opened up for the first time since he was involved in an accident on February 12.

While speaking to the Star during an interview, Tuju said that he suffered 12 broken ribs and lost a lot of blood internally.

In what he termed as 'excruciating pain,' the Jubilee Secretary general said he suffered injuries on the neck and head and a dislocated knee as well.

"I lost a lot of blood through internal bleeding. I survived through the grace of God. There is no other way. I have realised He loves me," Tuju narrated.

Tuju, who now says he is making progress, was under medical treatment for almost three weeks. After his accident, he was rushed to Kijabe hospital and later airlifted to Karen hospital in Nairobi and put in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Through a statement on February 20, Jubilee's Communications Director Albert Memusi said that Tuju was moved from the ICU after showing signs of improvement. However, the family resulted in having him flown to the United Kingdom for specialized treatment.

"The party is pleased to note that the SG Hon Tuju has been moved from the ICU ward. This is after the specialist observed the tremendous improvement exhibited over the past few days," read part of the statement.

Tuju jetted back to the country on Saturday, March 7, after receiving specialized treatment for two weeks in the UK and is now recuperating.

"I am on the mend. At least every day I have made progress. I was in a wheelchair, then on two crutches, now I am able to manage with one crutch, and this has progressively happened every day," Tuju added.
