Victor Wanyama speaks after leaving Spurs

Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama on Wednesday spoke for the first time after his departure from Tottenham Hotspurs.

He lauded the London-based club for the beautiful memories and the support he was given throughout his time in the EPL.

“I want to thank @SpursOfficial fans for all the support over these past years…we have shared great times together from finishing 2nd in EPL to reaching the champions league finals.

“I will always be grateful for having be able to play for Spurs,” he said.

On his new home, Montreal Impact, he said he was looking forward to the new challenge and expressed confidence in the club’s structure and ambition.

He also revealed his admiration for France legend and Arsenal great Thierry Henry who will be coaching him.

“The Lion is coming to @MLS,I’m really happy to join an exciting club like @impactmontreal. I believe the Saputo family, @ThierryHenry and the management at @impactmontreal have a great plan in place and I hope I can make a great contribution to the success of this project,” he remarked.

Spurs thanked Wanyama for his dedication to the club, giving a special mention to his incredible strike against Liverpool.

“From the goal in our last game at White Hart Lane to THAT strike at Anfield, thank you for providing us with some incredible memories,” said the club.

Online, fans wished him well in his new challenge and asked him to maintain the professionalism that made him a darling of many.
