Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has declared Wednesday February 12 a resting day for the county staff to allow them time to attend Mzee Daniel Moi’s burial.

Governor Sang made the announcement on Monday while signing the Moi’s condolence book at the Nandi headquarters.

“Further, to allow our county staff to join the rest of the country during the funeral service, I have officially declared a break from duties on Wednesday,” said Governor Sang.

On Thursday last week, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, declared Tuesday February 11, a public holiday.

He said that the day will be set aside to enable the public to mourn the late President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi and there will be a memorial service at Nyayo Stadium.

Kinyua also shed light on the arrangements of the State Funeral of Mzee Moi saying a steering committee was put in place to organize the same.

On Saturday February 8, thousands of Kenyans flocked the parliament house to view Moi’s body in a bid to pay their last respects.

Thousands more are expected at the Parliament as today marks the final day for Kenyans to view Moi’s body.

Over 30,000 Kenyans are expected to attend the late Mzee Moi’s funeral which will be held at his Kabarak home.

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said the country is prepared to host 10 heads of state who will be attending Moi's funeral.
