Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has asked leaders to focus on more pressing issues affecting Kenyans instead of politicking about the BBI.

In a video seen by Ureport, the lawmaker stated that the BBI debate should be concluded quickly and energies should be channeled towards addressing problems facing Kenyans.

In a veiled message that seemed to be directed at the President, Kuria said Kenyans cannot eat the BBI.

“We will not eat BBI, fix the economy first… In my own opinion, the government should enact the document by the end of 2020 so as to allow us move to other more important things.

“Kenyans need markets for their tea, coffee and milk,” he remarked.

The BBI talk has gained pace in recent weeks with leaders holding rallies to push for the same.

MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto yesterday appeared to backpedal from their weekend announcement to hold parallel rallies.

The legislators declared they will attend all rallies already scheduled and announced by the Pro-BBI brigade spearheaded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Nine leaders led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo/Marakwet) affirmed their intention to abandon the rebellious route.

“We will not and we do not intend to have parallel rallies. We hereby confirm on behalf our colleagues that we will attend all rallies already scheduled and announced,” said Murkomen at Parliament Buildings.
